Muddled Haddock

Haddock; or any fish
Plenty of pepper

Clean and cut fish in slices. Put in a pan and sprinkle with flour. Pour over fish enough cold water to barely cover it. Add onion and garlic to taste. Add salt and plenty of pepper. Cook over slow fire about half an hour after it begins to boil. If sauce is too thin, add a little more flour to thicken. Add a piece of butter the size of a walnut when done.
