Fiesta Chowder

1 lb Haddock fillets, frozen **
1/2 c Onion; chopped
1/2 c Green pepper; chopped
1 Garlic clove; crushed
2 tb Olive or vegetable oil
19 oz Tomatoes; canned
7 1/2 oz Tomatoe sauce; canned
1 c Potatoes; diced
1 sm Bay leaf
1/4 ts Oregano
1 ds Salt and pepper


** or cod, Boston bluefish, turbot

Partially thaw fish and cut in 1 inch pieces. Saute onion, green pepper, and garlic in oil until onion is translucent. Add remaining ingredients, except fish. Simmer slowly 15 minutes. Add fish and simmer 5 to 7 minutes or until fish is opaque and flakes easily.
