Fish Chowder

3/4 lb. salt pork, cut in fine cubes


Fry slowly until crisp, drain off fat and transfer to large soup pot. Slice 3 or 4 large potatoes and 2 or 3 onions. Boil in salted water until tender; scoop out and add to salt pork. Put 2 pounds haddock in same water; let poach. Combine everything, including water. Pour in a quart of milk and add 1 can of evaporated milk. Add 1/4 pound butter or oleo. Heat thoroughly at low temperature.
