Fish Chowder

1 1/2 lb. fish, cod or haddock
1/2 lb. scallops
4 lg. potatoes, diced small
1/2 to 1 lb. bacon or salt pork
1 can evaporated milk, not sweetened
1 sm. onion, diced
Salt and pepper to taste

Cube salt pork or cut up bacon. If using pork cook at bottom of pot until clear. Remove from pan. If using bacon, cook until crisp. Remove and set aside. Cook onion in fat until clear. Add potatoes. Add enough water to cover potatoes. Cook 5 minutes. Add fish and scallops. Cook until potatoes tender and fish flakes. Add can of milk. Heat until hot. DO NOT BOIL. Crumble bacon on top before serving.
